Harmony Foods

We appreciate how Storage Solutions helped us keep our costs down by providing used equipment and by utilizing our existing equipment.

Harmony Foods, a division of Diamond Foods Inc., manufactures trail mix for retail, club, mass merchandisers, and national distributors. The company’s plant in central Indiana roasts and processes nuts and also has coating capabilities. The facility recently added a 61,000-square-foot warehouse to handle shipping onsite. This construction consolidated two off-site warehouse operations.

Storage Solutions evaluated the floor plan of the new warehouse and designed an efficient layout utilizing VNA (very narrow aisle), wire guided equipment. The compact racks are 30 feet high with six levels. According to Ronnie Coots, warehouse manager of Harmony Foods, “We looked at ten foot, NA equipment that would handle 4600 pallet locations, but Storage Solutions recommended the VNA configuration. It allows us to have a lot more pallet locations — about 8,000.”

“We appreciate how Storage Solutions helped us keep our costs down by providing used equipment and by utilizing our existing equipment,” explained Coots. “Our company saved a significant amount of money versus buying new racking.”

Storage Solutions coordinated the entire warehouse installation and move. Harmony Foods was pleased with how smoothly the transition went. Coots said, “Everything worked out well, and, most importantly, we had no interruption in servicing our customers.”
