Director of Solutions Development

This position will be the driving force in assisting the sales & sales support teams in developing consultative engineering solutions & project solutions utilizing automation & technology to deliver to customers. Solutions are to be developed utilizing customer data analysis, site visits or customer direction with a goal of strengthening customer relationships & providing additional revenue opportunities to the company. Reporting to the EVP of Sales, the Director of Solutions Development will play a vital role in developing & delivering training on solutions development to the sales & sales support teams.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage & distribute the workload of the solutions development team
- Manage productivity of each individual member of the solutions development team
- Manage solutions development team proficiency and training
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for delivery of innovative project solutions
- Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress of each open development project
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Assist in identifying & maintaining company best practices in solutions development
- Collaborate with sales management & Training Coordinator to develop & delivering training on solutions development to the sales organization
- Share project results and best practices within the team and company
- Participate in continued improvement efforts to develop standard processes for the organization to adhere to for efficient & effective delivery to customers
- Analyze and review projects after completion to identify improvement opportunities
- Provide and update reports on status of existing projects for the sales management & executive team & be responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the process
- Stay up to date on all products/systems/offerings within the industry, including systems integration aspects and highly technical, complex solutions
- Collaborate with the sales team members & customers to evaluate customer needs, design and present the best solution to the customer
- Collaborate with sales team members to visit customer sites and interface with appropriate customer contacts
- Develop and prepare effective proposals for solutions development to provide to Accounts/Prospects
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
- Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks
- Participate in internal projects as required
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated success in project solutions development and customer facing interactions
- Creative approach in combining multiple partner solutions to develop the best overall solution to meet customer business needs
- Highly detail oriented, ability to manage to critical deadlines
- Ability to multitask effectively & prioritize & execute tasks
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential
- Ability to work through project issues with customers in a timely manner
- Technically competent and proficient with various software programs: Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, SmartSheet
- Effective written and oral communication skills: In person meetings, email, phone calls
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Strong technical aptitude – highly knowledgeable of industry systems including complex integrated systems and components
- BA/BS in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience

WORK CONDITIONS
- Office & field oriented position with some overnight travel to project sites required
- Overtime will be required when needed
