The Situation
Our client needed a new facility that would provide best in class solutions for order picking that includes a variety of types of items. Many items are small ‘each pick’ items, but the total item list also includes full case pick items & even very bulky, non-conveyable items.
The Results
The Storage Solutions team worked in collaboration with the client to come up with an overall facility design that maximizes operational efficiency in picking all of the different types of items, while still allowing for easy consolidation of the items for shipment using various shipping methods ranging from parcel to full truckload.
The WCS software portion of the solution facilitates distribution of work through the facility to maximize efficiency & balance workload. The 3 VLMs will allow for storing & picking upwards of 3000 different SKUs very efficiently using pick to light technology in only about 1,250 square feet of space.
