Scalable Design for 3PL's Operation
Kuehne & Nagel, a long-time 3PL customer of Storage Solutions needed to outfit a new 600,000 sq. ft. facility to help their client, Tarkett, consolidate multiple locations within a tight timeline. Tarkett, a global provider of flooring and wall solutions, required storage for a diverse range of items, presenting unique challenges such as a complex fire suppression design and the need for multiple rack profiles to ensure flexibility and future growth. By implementing universal storage profiles, we enabled them to store a wide range of products while maintaining flexibility for evolving demands.
Our turnkey services played a key role in being selected for this project. With many moving parts, having a single partner to oversee every detail was essential. One of the most complex challenges involved designing and permitting the fire suppression system. We solved this by incorporating vertical conduit drops to create the necessary flue space for storing long, cylindrical items, such as carpet rolls, ensuring full compliance with local regulations.
The Results
Our team delivered a comprehensive solution, installing nearly 4,000 bays of pallet racking, hundreds of feet of guardrail, and additional safety and efficiency features such as dome mirrors, line striping, and labeling—providing our customer with a truly turnkey operation.
