EffiMat®, As an automated tote shuttle and retrieval system, is a unique and effective warehouse solution. While EffiMat® may look like a vertical lift module (VLM), it is significantly faster for retrieving parts, offers more storage, and is more flexible to integrate into a broader range of applications.
Unlike a VLM, where the machine will bring down an entire tray of parts when only one part is needed, EffiMat® only retrieves the totes with the parts required to fulfill current orders.
EffiMat® can retrieve five totes per cycle, and the machine can cycle up to 50 times per hour. This capability means that one EffiMat® machine can provide 250 tote presentations per hour. However, multiple EffiMat® devices can be placed side-by-side to achieve 500-750 tote presentations per hour per picker to drive even higher throughput.
The order-picking system enables a demands-based presentation of totes, reducing picking cycles to an absolute minimum. As a result, EffiMat® can pick orders at least four times faster than any traditional vertical lift module (VLM).
With a user-friendly, ergonomic design, EffiMat® provides optimal working conditions. The system is flexible enough to be used as a standalone solution or can be integrated with other storage automation or robotics technology for use in intelligent picking or production environments.
The EffiMat® can be integrated with robotics or built into a work cell, which results in a completely automated system that can run around the clock, dramatically increasing throughput while virtually eliminating inefficiencies in the picking process. The only manual labor required is a worker placing totes at an in-feed – EffiMat® does the rest.
When an EffiMat® is combined with a conveyor, goods are stored and picked from the EffiMat®. However, they are placed on the conveyor instead of being replenished manually.
Inbound products are physically packed into toes in the receiving area, and the contents of the packages are received into the WMS system, assuring product traceability and visibility. After being manually packed, the totes are placed on the conveyor without distracting the employees who are picking.
The integration of EffiMat® with mobile robots gives fulfillment efforts a high level of flexibility, increased efficiency, and reduces the human labor required to transfer goods between two points. This integration not only lowers operational costs, but also gives your employees the ability to focus on higher-level tasks instead of walking while transporting products.
ClassicMat™ is one of the fastest VLMs on the market, designed to improve material flow and compact storage of many items. The unique design can allow products to be delivered in a way that provides ergonomic picking and reduces reach depth. Its high operating speed leads to increased efficiency and an expedited pick rate.
Having both EffiMat® and ClassicMat™ available allows EFFIMAT to provide unique client solutions by mixing the two technologies to provide an optimized overall customer solution. Different inventory segments can be stored in the two different technologies based on certain characteristics to maximize storage and throughput capabilities while minimizing total investment. Because both technologies come from the same provider and work on the same platform, this is done seamlessly and without the challenges that can often come with integrating multiple automation technologies into an operation.
