It’s almost time for the IFDA Conference in National Harbor, MD at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, and Storage Solutions will be there!

What is the IFDA Distribution Solutions Conference?

The conference is ultimately about helping foodservice operations management work smarter, better, and faster! This conference provides resources and insights to improve your operations, addresses key people issues. Furthermore, it helps you get your head around the latest professional procedures and technologies.

IFDA describes itself as a place to see the latest technologies and hear the latest best practices in food distribution. In addition, attendees will gain insights on issues from warehousing and transportation to human resources and regulatory compliance.

So what does this mean for Storage Solutions? Well, SSI has been attending the IFDA conference since 2012 in order to learn more about the industry’s best practices. We will also have two employees at the show this year, (Aaron Resiak and Brian Blanner) so make sure to come see them!

Labor Day Hours: Storage Solutions

Labor Day: What it Means

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It is a yearly nationwide tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

So before the realization that the end of the summer sets in, we encourage you to use this three-day weekend to take advantage of the great weather! Whether you decide to spend the weekend grilling by the lake or staying close to home, we hope you enjoy the long weekend!

In honor of Labor Day, and to celebrate our Storage Solutions team, our warehouse and offices will be closed on Monday, September 4, 2017, and will reopen on Tuesday, September 5. So go out and enjoy the beautiful weather and the long weekend!

Project Spotlight: Salt Lake City Warehouse

We installed this racking in Salt Lake City, an area with high seismic activity, so we needed to make sure the racking had enough support to withstand possible tremulous events. With this in mind, we had to give their warehouse a complete overhaul.

We’ve said it before, and we will say it again…our team will do everything in our power to make sure that deadlines are met and projects go off without a hitch! We even take care of permitting!

The customer required a very quick timeline on new racking in a high seismic area. The Storage Solutions team was able to get the building permitted, the rack fully installed and occupancy granted prior to the deadline.

Why Pallet Flow Will Optimize Your Warehouse

We are all looking for ways to work smarter, both personally and for our teams. When it comes to dense storage solutions, pallet flow is especially beneficial as it allows you to make your warehouse more efficient by moving products quicker than ever before.

What are the Benefits of Pallet Flow Racking?

To begin, pallet flow is easy to use! By being a first-in, first-out system (FIFO), which is what makes it different from other types of drive-in racks. Pallet flow racking also has a different pick and load system. You get faster pick and load times by loading the pallet on one side and letting it slide down the other.

While other types of racking can hold anywhere from about two to five pallets, pallet flow can contain anywhere from twelve to fifteen racks (depending on the model)

This style is excellent when it comes to customization. We all want equipment that fits our specific needs. Customers can tailor this rack to the sizes and weights of their exact pallets. It is also usable anywhere in your warehouse, on the floor, with necessary racking and more!

At Storage Solutions, we know how hard it can be to find the right used equipment for your space. That is why we are always on the lookout for good quality material to house in our 350,000 sq. ft. facility headquartered in Central Indiana. Each item has to pass a rigorous inspection, and is then stored inside a climate controlled facility. The goal is to save our customers money with buying used without having to sacrifice quality.

Recent Warehouse Update:

In an effort to open up even more space for used equipment, we recently tore down 321 bays of rack in our own warehouse to free up more floor storage! Storage Solutions is constantly looking for ways to expand our inventory so we always have what our customers are looking for.

Storage Solutions Project Spotlight: Dallas FINAL

The final time-lapse video for our project in Dallas is live!  This video chronicles the installation of 598 pallet rack bays, 810 single-level rack bins, and 300′ of guardrail in a 160,000 sq. ft. facility.
