Celebrating 40 Years

After 40 years of service to the material handling industry, Storage Solutions is excited to be celebrating our 40th anniversary with you!

Without you, there is no us. We are happy to have partnered with you throughout the years on many projects within the United States and abroad. We have done installation jobs in facilities right in our backyard in Indianapolis, all the way to “Down Under” in Australia. We aim to give you the service that you expect from a small business, while still providing you with the resources of a nationwide company.

Over the years, we started in a small office in Carmel, Indiana. Since then, we have grown to a 330,000 square foot facility in Westfield, IN, along with sales offices in Kansas City, Nashville, Phoenix, Florida and California. We started with only a handful of employees, and we are excited to have eclipsed the 100 employee mark in 2001.

While celebrating this month, we recognize where we have been as a company, where we are now, and where we want to be in the future. We continually strive to be the leaders in the material handling industry, and we appreciate having our employees, our customers, and our partners with us every step of the way.

Independence Day

Everyone here at Storage Solutions would like to wish you a Happy Independence Day! Whether you are having a cookout, traveling, or watching late night fireworks at the local parade, we hope you take a second to stop and remember what this holiday is all about.

Today, we remember the brave men and women and what they went through over 240 years ago. America declared independence from England in 1776, and without those that were courageous and patriotic, we would not be where we are today without them. We also want to recognize those that show the same courage and patriotism for our freedom today. Thank you to the soldiers that have fought, and currently fight, for our country. If it weren’t for our military, we would not be able to celebrate being a free country.

In recognition of the holiday, Storage Solutions will be closed Wednesday, July 4th and will reopen Thursday, July 5th. Feel free to contact us and we will get back to you when we return!

We hope you are able to relax and enjoy this day to celebrate our country’s freedom!

Extending a warm welcome to Brandan Alford!

Brandan recently joined the Storage Solutions team as a Project Manager. In this position, he works closely with our Sales Representatives from the initial quote phase of a project to the completion. Essentially he develops, prepares, and manages turnkey solutions to our customers – taking the stress off their shoulders. Before coming to Storage Solutions, Brandan worked at Covance Laboratories as a Global Study Manager and with the Secretary of State’s Office as an Election Outreach Manager. Prior to starting his career, Brandan received his Bachelor’s degree from Wabash College before going to Ball State University for his Master’s degree.

Brandan enjoys taking full advantage of the social scene in Indy – trying new restaurants and breweries throughout the city and going to sporting events, especially Indians games in the summer. He is a huge sports fan – Purdue, Cubs, Pacers, Colts, and Manchester United, to name a few. The Cubs winning the World Series in 2016 was actually a life highlight for him.  Not only is he a sports fan, but he can be found playing basketball and will get in as many rounds of golf as possible during the summer. He’s also a bit of a news/politics junkie.

Fun fact: Brandan has never left the country and actually still doesn’t even have his passport. London and Ireland are two places on his bucket list.

What do you like best about Storage Solutions?

“The opportunity to work alongside people I like and respect at a company that truly values their employees; but also to do so in a competitive environment that challenges us all to succeed.” – Brandan Alford

With a rapidly changing industry, Storage Solutions wants to make sure that we are always up-to-date with the latest trends and business opportunities ahead of us. Our Vice President of Operations, Nathan Storey, saw an opportunity that would help Storage Solutions meet and exceed this goal, which led him to attend the 63rd Annual MHEDA Convention.

Welcome, David Hauck!

As Storage Solutions continues to grow and hire talented new employees, we want to make sure that they are properly introduced to our customers, readers, friends, and partners. Why keep all this excitement to ourselves when David could soon be working with you!

David has six years of experience working for an international telecommunications corporation. He worked in the operations, supply chain, and logistics departments. He was the main point-of-contact for the company’s tier one customer accounts where he handled everything from order entry to material handling and delivery of their products to customer distribution centers. Before starting his career, David attended Wabash College for his undergrad where he thoroughly enjoyed his time in a small college setting.

David enjoys staying in shape and living an active lifestyle by playing golf, basketball and going to the gym. On the weekends you’ll find him either at a sporting event or enjoying a cold beverage and listening to live music with friends and family. He’s also an adventurer. David typically plans a trip to a lake house or ventures out of the country and will go to a place as close to the equator as possible!

What would you like to gain from working at Storage Solutions?

I am also hoping that bringing an outside perspective from a different industry will help SSI continue to build and improve its internal processes and procedures to help streamline business practices.

Temperature Controlled Storage

Temperature-controlled storage is a subject that is getting significant attention lately, and for a good reason. It is integral to the storage and supply of climate-sensitive items such as food, pharmaceuticals, and similar items. If these items rest for too long in the wrong climate – without temperature-controlled storage – they could be damaged or ruined. Of course, that loss of inventory the last thing anyone wants for their business.

The growing popularity of e-commerce, also known as the “Amazon Effect,” brings with it the need for more temperature-controlled storage space in warehouses and distribution centers across the globe. Citing a 2019 report published by Los Angeles industrial retail giant CBRE, experts anticipating an expected expansion of more than 30 million square feet of cold storage by 2024. The demand for these types of facilities is “niche, but one that is really going to take off,” according to the CRBE.

Temperature controlled space can be costly to construct and operate. Common challenges also include creating a design that is optimal for employee working conditions, safety, and maximizing storage capacity within the cubic space available.

When going this route for your company, you will want a partner that can give you the exact solution that meets your needs. By working with our expert design team, you can rest easy knowing you will get optimal utilization out of your facility. Our priority is to make sure that not only are your needs met but that your project is also completed on time and on budget.

Modex 2018

Modex is nearly underway in Atlanta! From April 9th through the 12th, Atlanta will be hosting the trade show at the Georgia World Congress Center, and we will be there!

What is Modex?

Modex is a tradeshow that highlights manufacturing and supply chain industry standards. This show connects people with others in the field, facilitating networking opportunities and exchanging ideas for best practices in your industry.

So what does this mean for us at Storage Solutions? We have been attending Modex since it started, and every year, our team comes back with great ideas for use of technology and innovative solutions for our clients. We will also be sending quite a few of our employees to the trade show. Tim Bangert, Tim Fonderoli, Eric McDonald, Dani Hasty, Frank Blanton, Brian Blanner, and Kevin Rowles will all be in attendance.

Tim Fonderoli states, “Modex allows me to show my customers hands-on how a system comes together to maximize their storage area and make it more efficient and cost-effective. Plus, this gives us a chance to speak directly with the manufacturer in case our customer has a unique application rather than the normal rack and shelving storage.”

Storage Solutions representatives will be on site for the entirety of the show, so make sure to say hello!

One of the many benefits you will receive when working with our project management team is a detailed project schedule. This schedule is created online through Smartsheet and is included with any project we work on. From equipment delivery, to your go-live date and everything in between, you will be able to see a detailed outline of everything to expect.

A detailed schedule to take the hassle out of your project

With all the dynamic facets that come with a project, it can be difficult to ensure things work out perfectly. Our team will create a road-map for the project, finding all paths necessary to meet necessary deliverable dates. This will help to ensure your project is not only done on time, but also on budget. With this schedule continuously updated throughout the life of the project, you will always know what to expect. Furthermore, we ensure that all time on your project is fully utilized by coordinating equipment deliveries, installation crews, etc.

In addition to having access to this tool, our team will be in contact with you every step of the way. From the day that you purchase your equipment to well past the project’s completion, we will be your partner throughout the entire process to ensure you are satisfied.

Above all, our goal is to be the experts to take on project management and save you headaches. If you want to learn more about our full project management service, click here.
