Project Ohio By The Numbers:

Project Ohio Term Of The Week: Mezzanines

Mezzanine is a structure that stands alone and is constructed within an existing building. This structure is designed to maximize space under and above it which creates additional space for storage or offices. You’ll notice in the photos that these structures are optimal for high-density storage and can withstand heavy loads.  They’re great for creating additional floorspace and are engineered to fulfill specific needs of each user.

Stay tuned next week to check out the project specifics and see photos of how things are progressing.  Click here to view last week’s Project Spotlight: OHIO posting and to view past Project Spotlight postings as well.

Aaaaaand we’re back!  We are finally ready to introduce you to another project in our Project Spotlight series.  This time, we’re taking a look at “Project Ohio”.  This project was located in midwestern Ohio, but for confidentiality’s sake, we’re just going to call it OHIO.

“We have worked with Storage Solutions on many projects.  Project H was one of the most versatile and they did a great job, once again, adapting to the changes.  They make the installation process smooth and effective and their professionalism is always commendable.  It’s safe to say I’ll be turning to Storage Solutions again for future project partnerships.”

Chance, Project H Project Manager

Project H, as many of you know, was the first project in our Project Spotlight Series, intended to bring you into some of our projects to show you just what we do. We combined pick modules and pallet rack warehouse configurations to create a highly-effective operation for our customer.

We’d love your feedback, so be sure to let us know what you think in the comments section!  We’ve got more project spotlights coming your way, so stay tuned!

“If you build it, they will come…”  No truer words have ever been spoken, though we’re pretty sure whoever said it first wasn’t referring to a warehouse full of pallet rack.  But nonetheless, it’s true.  The key to providing your customers with the best possible service is to give them a storage system that works.

That’s what’s happening for our customer in Indiana.  Through building such an innovative and effective warehouse system, they are in turn going to be able to provide their customers with the best possible products and services. It’s a win for everybody.

In addition to the pick module post from last week, we have begun installing the pallet rack system throughout the warehouse.

Aspects Of This Project:

  • 1,920 bays of selective and tire rack
  • 2,016 uprights
  • 24,000 beams, wire decks and column protectors
  • Sprinklers installed
  • 13,800 linear feet of wire guidance (for fork trucks)

Check it out!

What are pick modules?

According to MHEDA’s resource website, wikiMHEDA, our go-to source for so many material handling definitions, pick modules can describe anything from a large area of a warehouse designated by order picking (such as multi-level mezzanine picking), to the individual sections of flow rack or other storage media that make up the picking area.

Why Pick Modules?

Pick modules provide high density storage and are typically customized to meet a particular warehouse or distribution center’s unique requirements.  Various storage solutions (pallet flow rack, carton flow, pallet rack, pushback rack, etc.) are integrated inside multi-level work platforms, allowing product to move more efficiently through a distribution facility or warehouse.

Be sure to check in again next week.  We’ll showcase another part of Project H.  It’s all coming together!  And we guarantee you’re going to LOVE the end result.

Our Project Spotlight Series has officially started!  We would like to introduce you to the first project to kick off our series, which is located in Indiana.  For confidentiality purposes, we’re going to call this project PROJECT H.
