Welcome, Andrew Barber!

Our team has grown! We are thrilled to welcome our newest team member, Andrew Barber. Andrew works as a National Accounts Sales Representative in our Kansas City office. He was born and raised in Springfield, IL where he lived with his mother, father and sister. Andrew is a graduate of the University of Missouri. While there, he studied Health Sciences and Business. He has spent the last six years selling marketing solutions to a wide variety of companies, though his primary focus was in the sports radio industry. We are pleased with the knowledge and creativity he’s brought to his new role here at Storage Solutions.

Outside of the office, Andrew is very active. When he’s not at a sporting event, you can find Andrew training, running and swimming outside with his black lab, Herbert. He loves the outdoors and is always planning his next camping, hiking or fishing trip. Some of his favorite outdoor experiences include backpacking the Grand Canyon and exploring Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula.

Storage Solutions would like to present the final time lapse video for the Project Mississippi series! We have so many projects starting soon, so stay tuned for the next Spotlight Series!

Without further hesitation…

Welcome to week 3 of the Project Mississippi series! The Storage Solutions installation team has been chugging along. It is looking like we may finish this project ahead of schedule!

This facility, like others we’ve covered in our Spotlight Series, has a bin supported mezzanine. On the mezzanine, our team installed a 34′ run of powered conveyor that carries packages from the floor the second level and vice versa.

Approximately 160,000 sq ft of the 540,000 sq ft facility is floor storage, so we will be installing labels for over 1,500 floor locations!

For this week’s Project Spotlight blog, we are going to cover vertical reciprocating conveyors because one will be installed by our crews in Mississippi after the mezzanine is finished!

Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors, also known as VRCs, move equipment from one level to another. They can move efficiently to a mezzanine, rack/shelving storage system with catwalks, or a new/existing upper floor level. In addition, they are classified as a material conveyor, and the operators do not need OSHA forklift training. They can also transfer pallet loads, carts and boxes that may not fit on a forklift.

Other benefits to VRCs include:

  • Safe to operate
  • Less costly to operate and maintain compared to elevators and forklifts
  • Adjusts to your specific load (height, speed requirements)

The final time lapse video for Project California has arrived! Check it out below!

Like we have mentioned before, the Storage Solutions installation team travels all across the United States for projects. No project is ever the same. They range from 5,000 square feet to 2 million square feet! If you are interested in working with our team on you next project, give us a call at 866.474.2001.

This week of our Project Spotlight Series we’re going to cover seismic zones. A seismic zone is a region that has consistent seismic activity. Each region across the United States is given a rating that ranges from a low seismic area (0) to an extremely high seismic area (4).

seismic zone

Most extremely high seismic zones are located along fault lines. Project California is located in a seismic zone 4. This is why we installed Tube Rack Designed for these special seismic conditions.

In order to regulate construction in the state and promote health, safety and general welfare of the public, California requires specific licensing for our industry to do business.

We are proud to share with you that our team member, Vince Zito, studied long and hard and passed the Contractors State License Board exam!

California, like us here at Storage Solutions, wants to ensure that construction is performed in a safe, competent and professional manner.

Vince said, “Storage Solutions is always willing and ready to go that extra mile to ensure our customers are getting the best possible service available, and we will do whatever it takes to get there.  If we need to take a test and expand our knowledge on different state and local laws, we’ll do it!”

Check back next week for the latest progress on Project California!

For the next Project Spotlight Series, we are taking you to the sunshine state! That’s right, the Storage Solutions installation team is in California. This project is a bit different because the 390,000 sq. ft. facility is in a seismic zone. The rack and bin mezzanine being installed had to be specially designed to accomodate the seismic regulations.

Drumroll please…the time lapse video for Project Illinois has arrived! The Storage Solutions installation team finished this project ahead of schedule. Not only did we install the bin mezzanine, we served as the general contractor for the electricians and fire suppression contractors for that portion of the project. We also pulled all the necessary permits for the rack and bin mezzanine according to the local building code.

If you missed any of Project Illinois, you can see them here along with past Project Spotlight Series!
