As the end of 2019 approached, the Storage Solutions Marketing & Communications team wanted to find a way for our employees to come together and give back to the Central Indiana community for the holiday season. The team tossed around a few ideas, eventually deciding on supporting local families through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program.
What is the “Angel Tree Program?
Per the Salvation Army, the Angel Tree Program, “is an incredible way to give to a child (or “Angel”) in need. Generous donors adopt children (or “Angels”) and provide them with Personalized gifts to help make the holidays a special time.”
Per tradition, the staff set up a Christmas Tree in our lobby. Then, we put the call out to our staff to help support five local families. Each child supplied “wants” and “needs” for their respective Christmases.
Storage Solutions Stepping Up
Within a few days, items ranging from stuffed animals to roller skates to basketballs were placed under the tree. Each present was provided by a Storage Solutions staff member.
Then, volunteers took some time to gather the presents and take them to the Salvation Army for distribution. It was a rewarding experience and one that the Storage Solutions team plans to continue as the years go on.
“It is important for our company and our staff both to give back to our community, especially around the holiday season,” Savannah Buckley, Communications Coordinator and organizer of this year’s Angel Tree drive. “I was overwhelmed to see how quickly our team responded. We hope we were able to make a few local families’ Christmases a little brighter this year.”
Community Involvement is a Priority
In addition, Storage Solutions was recently recognized with an MHEDA MVP distinction from its industry’s trade association. Community involvement as a key pillar in the evaluation process for the honor. This year’s Angel Tree drive was just another example of Storage Solutions giving back to the community we serve.
