Modular Roll Back SystemTerm of the Week: Modular Roll Back System

Similar to a push back system, the roll back system allows you to store multiple pallet racks in a given area.  The only difference being the roll back can hold up to ten pallets deep in each rack while the push back can store only 5-6 pallets deep.  This is nearly double the capacity of a push back system allowing you to drastically reduce the number of aisles and increase the amount of product that can be stored in a facility.

The system is gravity operated for simple operation and uses minimal vertical space.  The roll back system can hold up to 3000 lbs. per pallet and also allows for the storage of varying pallet weights, sizes and types in the same lane.

Some features of modular roll back:

  • Unique design allows for simple addition of extra lanes
  • Easily stores up to 10 pallets deep
  • Withstands up to 3000 lbs. capacity / pallet
  • Allows for multiple styles of pallets in same lanes

So…

The plan is, over the next few months, to introduce you to all of those team members that thought they could sneak by without a post! Starting today with Ryan Schmitt!

Ryan has been a member of our CAD team for four and a half years.  His days at Storage Solutions are spent providing everything from conceptual layouts to install drawings for our sales team.  He also provides 3D drawings of racking for our customers, but there is so much more than drawings to Ryan! Here’s what you need to know…

vrc multiplTerm of the Week:  VRCs
Vertical Reciprocating Conveyors, also known as VRCs, move equipment from one level to another. They can move efficiently to a mezzanine, rack/shelving storage system with catwalks, or a new/existing upper floor level. In addition, they are classified as a material conveyor, and the operators do not need OSHA forklift training. They can also transfer pallet loads, carts and boxes that may not fit on a forklift.

Other benefits to VRCs include:

  • Safe to operate
  • Less costly to operate and maintain compared to elevators and forklifts
  • Adjusts to your specific load (height, speed requirements)

Storage Solutions would like to wish all the dads out there a Happy Father’s Day!

I had the opportunity to chat with two of the dads in our office about some of the joys and hardships of being an awesome dad.  Here’s what they had to say…

Tim Fonderoli: “An awesome dad is someone who cares and puts all his efforts in to his family.  My family is everything.  It is important to lead by example and show your kids how much they mean to you.  Saying no and disciplining your kids is one of the hardest things about being a parent.  There are times when I couldn’t let them do something because I knew that it was the wrong choice.  Then they make the wrong choice and there’s punishment, but you provide them with love and faith to recover and grown.  As my family always says in Italian, “Fede, Speranza, Amore, Famiglia Sempre.” In English this means faith, hope, love, family forever!”

Vince Zito: “Honestly, if I was able to do half of what my wife does and has done for our children, then I would be an awesome dad.  I look at myself as being their life coach until they move on to their adult life, and I just hope that one day they will look back and say, “Dad was awesome.” The hardest part of being a father is spending that quality, one-on-one, non-interrupted time with your child, and the fear of my children ever being hurt.  Kids and parents these days are so consumed with school, work, and hobbies that they don’t spend that much needed time together.  For the past two years, my kids and I have participated in an All Pro Dad program through their school.  We get together with other dads and kids once a month for breakfast and just talk.  At the end, the dads stand up and tell everyone why they are proud of their kids. When it comes to my kids getting hurt, whether it be physically or emotionally, it is my responsibility to protect them at any cost.”

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 17th.  Take time to thank your father for all he has done!

pallet rackFor those of you that don’t know, yesterday, Sunday, June 3rd was National Repeat Day (yes, I said Repeat Day). National Repeat Day is a day for everyone to go out and do the things they love over again.  Go fishing for two hours instead of one, ride your bike in the morning then again in the evening, or eat your favorite dessert twice!

Well, one thing we love here at Storage Solutions is pallet rack, so to celebrate Repeat Day we are re-posting a previous Term of the Week blog.

This week’s re-term of the week is Pallet Rack!

Pallet rack is a structural storage system that is used to support high stacking of items or palletized loads. This storage system is designed to store materials on pallets.

There are many types of pallet racking but all types allow for the storage of palletized materials. In order to use the pallet rack system you need to have access to forklift trucks so that you can place the loaded pallets onto the racks for storage. Pallet racks are an essential element in most modern warehouses, manufacturing facilities, retail centers, and other storage and distribution facilities.

We use many types of pallet racking in our own warehouse. We also buy and sell new and used pallet rack beams and used pallet rack uprights.

If you are in need of pallet racking make sure to check out the clearance section of our website for more product availability, or contact our online sales team at 866.474.2001, and one of our knowledgable team members will be able to help you get what you need!
