Why should the Storage Solutions C-A-R-E-S warehouse design optimization process matter to your company? Everyone experiences challenges & changes within their operation. With the Storage Solutions C-A-R-E-S process, we follow a systemic approach to uncover any issues you may have. These guidelines allow us to address specific opportunities for improvement, pain points, growth objectives & more. We have tailored this process to be fully customizable to fit your budget, needs, and time frame.

For example, we can address issues you may have when it comes to order fulfillment. The cause could stem from picking challenges or e-commerce and omnichannel fulfillment demands. For this reason, it is imperative to design a solution that works best for you and is dynamic enough to adapt at the drop of a hat to meet external expectations.

Similarly, we provide you with the most flexible solution to ensure you are ready for any changes down the pipeline.

In conclusion, by using our data-driven C-A-R-E-S process, we can help you create a solution that can be justified not just operationally but also economically. By developing your distribution to optimal efficiency, we can address your current and future goals. Truck Driver Appreciation Week

Truck drivers play a key role in the logistics side of our business. Without them, we would have no way to get shipments from Point A to Point B. Because of this, we were more than ecstatic to celebrate National Truck Driver Appreciation Week from September 9th through the 15th.

Logistics is an integral part of the material handling industry, nobody knows that better than our Logistics Manager, Brenda Dudley.

“For material handling and specifically what we do at Storage Solutions, service needs are indicative of “just in time” performance. With build schedules, crews on site and customer timelines, we can’t deliver too early or too late but within a window delivery plan. We depend and rely on the abilities of the drivers to honor our own commitments to our customers. Let’s not forget that drivers on-site at a customer’s facility are an extension of who and what we are as a company. They represent us while handling our shipments and can make or break customer relationships. It’s easy to overlook the hard work and effort most drivers put forth and we tend to think that they need business to keep the wheels turning, when in fact, we need them just as much.”

We send and receive around fifteen shipments every day, going to and coming from all over the continental United States. These drivers put in long, grueling hours every day to ensure shipments arrive on time. That often means time away from family and friends, along with the comfort of home.

This is why we dedicate this week to them. So if you see any truck drivers, be sure to thank them for their hard work! It certainly doesn’t go unnoticed here at Storage Solutions.

Broken Case Picking

Broken case picking is becoming more prevalent in almost all industries, creating operational challenges for many companies. When assisting with the design of your broken case picking solution, we ensure that we create the most efficient and cost-effective solution for your facility.

Our solutions development team will utilize our vast experience to help you optimize your operation and find the right equipment, automation or technology solutions to provide you with the lowest total cost per unit throughput solution.

Broken Case Picking Design Criteria

When going through a new facility design, or an existing facility optimization, we have a set of criteria that we utilize to determine the right solution to meet your specific needs.

Our team will gain a thorough understanding of the operational challenges that you are currently experiencing, such as labor, competition, market challenges and more. We then look at the overall volume levels that you are seeing in daily activity; such as the number of orders, the number of line items, and the number of units picked, packed and shipped on a typical day.

After understanding the volume of your operation, we also take a look at the order profiles. We look at the number of line items on a typical order, and the number of units per line item. The order profiles help us to determine the most efficient picking methodologies to apply to your operational solution. We break down your demand to the SKU level to identify ideal storage mediums and utilize ABC stratification to create a slotting plan that will maximize pick efficiency.

Maximizing space utilization and operational efficiency are of paramount importance. That’s why we want to partner with you to ensure your facility is running as profitably as possible.

Let us be the ones to enhance your broken case picking operation!

SSI Family

For the past month, we have talked about our 40th-anniversary celebration in bulk. We mentioned where we have been, where we are now, and where we want to go in the future. As our celebrating comes to a close, we are excited to announce that three of our employees each added one more to the Storage Solutions family.

Day in the life Header Kyle

I am Kyle Rowles, and this summer, I am working for Storage Solutions as the Marketing Intern.

About the Job

In this position, I help to oversee and run the social media accounts for the company by posting work anniversaries, #WarehouseWednesdays, and holiday posts.  In addition, I assist the Project Managers in submitting leads and proposals into our Storage Server system. Doing this allows the Project Managers to focus more on the customer service aspect of their job, and I focus on the submissions into our system. I also send out internal email blasts, while also writing and publishing different blogs (i.e. holiday hours, special events).

Personal Information

I am from Huntley, Illinois, but temporarily live in Noblesville, Indiana for the summer. I go to school at Ball State University with a major in Logistics and Supply Chain Management with a minor in Six Sigma and plan on graduating in May of 2020. Last summer, I started working for Storage Solutions for a summer job working in their warehouse.

During the summer, I enjoy playing slow pitch softball on a weekly basis. It helps to get my mind off of work, and more towards enjoying my summer however I can. During the school year, I play club volleyball and take on any leadership roles that I see fit within time and knowledge in my fraternity. I am very glad to be working for this awesome company for the second summer in a row! The people I have met and the things that I have learned well exceeded my expectations. What a great company to work for!
